Robbie Fulks

Robbie spent his formative years in SE Pennsylvania, the Blue Ridge area of Virginia, and the North Carolina Piedmont. He eventually moved to Chicago, where his early solo work (Country Love Songs in ’96 and Southmouth in the following year) helped to usher in “alt country”. His more-recent music is, in part, a return to his earlier bluegrass days, extending the boundaries of that tradition to treat themes of love, the slings of time, and the troubles of common people. In 2017, Upland Stories earned year’s best recognition from numerous media outlets, including Rolling Stone and NPR. It also garnered two Grammy nominations, for best Folk Album and best American Roots Song (“Alabama At Night”). Robbie is a wonderful entertainer and we’re excited to bring him to the Folk Fest.
