Nancy uses wool fiber because of its durability and richness of color.  Her rugs are woven on an antique solid oak 1922 rug loom.  "I believe the functional items in our daily lives should be works of art.”  Excellent quality and unique design combine with durability to create fully washable functional art pieces. This year Nancy is including her hand dyed silk scarves.

Mara and Vera started as traditional Latvian weavers, potters, leather crafters, and jewelers.  These family skills and talents have now evolved into unique freehand quilted pieces, and decorative beaded jewelry and decorations.  They have been honored to be part of the Wisconsin Arts Board programs in Madison, Washington DC, and Chiba, Japan.  Their works have also earned awards at Cranfest, Machine Quilters Showcase, and others.

Scott creates color-filled clothes for people of all ages.  Many of the hand-dyed garments have batik images of animals, nature, mandalas, and spirit symbols.  The images are drawn in wax on fabric and then colored and dyed.

Lori is an award winning fiber artist. She has been weaving for over 30 years and has focused on rugs for 18.  Her rugs, woven from a variety of recycled materials, are designed to combine beauty for the eye with comfort for the feet. She has taught felt making to hundreds of school children. Lori finds her greatest joy and inspiration from color exploration.

Many intricate cross-stitched and appliqué-designs complement purses, billfolds, potholders, story cloths, and cell phone holders. In a fast-moving world, this time-consuming Hmong art from still graces the many items created on Kaojia. She also makes sand animals for children to enjoy.

Many hours of work go into each hand-sewn piece. Hmong stitchery is known for reverse appliqué and tiny cross-stitch. Also famous are the colorful embroidered story cloths depicting historical events and cultural lore.
