Pigtown Fling String Band, a local favorite in La Crosse, plays music influenced by a range of styles, from traditional Irish and American Old–Time music to Bluegrass, Blues, and Swing. Established late in 2013, the band is a group of long–time musical friends and musical partners. Their passion is in bringing a new sound to the La Crosse area and beyond.
Jessie McDonald, Pigtown’s fiddler, has been performing Irish music since she was a young girl. She brings an amazing energy to the stage.
Casey Barth plays mandolin, guitar, and harmonica; his style has been influenced by Bill Monroe, Django Reinhardt, David Grisman, Lead Belly, Robert Johnson, and Charlie Patton.
Sherri Byrne sings and plays upright bass and guitar. She cites as influences Memphis Minnie, Bessie Smith and Ma Rainey, and she brings a sassy, raw emotion to her songs.
Barry Byrne provides vocals and plays guitar and accordion. His named influences include the Grateful Dead and Pink Floyd, as well as Scott Joplin and J.S. Bach.
